Today we went to this beautiful look out point near the bay and sat and watched the elegant birds walking along the shallow shore and joined them, picking up shells and pieces of green glass and bottles and carapaces that snails and sticky creatures had long ago abandoned. The wind was cool and steady and the sun warmed our bodies as we waved to youthful teens on their boats, knowing that they probably thought us strange but not caring in the least. The sight of that frigid water lapping upon the muddy bank was so pure and divine and the wind and shining sun so exhilarating, it simply did not matter how foolish we looked scavenging old gems on a seemingly dingy beach.
It's so strange how you begin to forget the beautiful parts of your city or town or wherever you reside. Your eyes adjust to your surroundings, become weary of the unchanging sights. You become bored with your own home. Places like this look out point and the park just down the street and the glowing beauty of our city beaches are shining jewels, hidden beneath sand. It is sad that we often are too lazy to look for these concealed treasures.
